objective

After production for Get In The Robot paused, our fanbase wouldn’t let this be the end of their favorite YouTube anime channel and begged us to bring back the Bot. 10 former employees decided to band together to create a new space for our displaced fans. With our independently run business, we hoped to preserve the original GITR brand and its mission while evolving it into a more mature version that allowed more creativity and freedom in our content, objectives, and values.

As the art director and brand designer, I worked closely with my co-founders (who make up the Programming, Social Media, Hosts, and Video Editing teams) to craft both a fictional and factual narrative that reflected the transition from our old brand (GITR) to this new brand (Beyond the Bot), as well as name the new brand, design a logo, identity, channel, in-video graphics, and, social media. While our YouTube channel is steadily growing with 68K subscribers and 1.1 million views, we have simultaneously cultivated a multi-platform social community with 6K followers on Instagram, 6.6K followers on Twitter, 2K members on Discord, and 1K patrons on Patreon who together contribute $7.5K/per month to support the brand.

We wanted to illustrate the shift from our corporate origins to our indie rebirth as a post-apocalyptic journey inspired by grungy, 90’s sci-fi anime. Departing from pastel colors and leaning into vibrant, neon palettes, we sought to evoke a late-night atmosphere where deep dives, woke conversations, and hot takes were welcome.

From corporate-run to human-led, Beyond The 'Bot represents our journey to rediscover our humanity after living so long inside of a robot. Thus to humanize our new anime entertainment & lifestyle brand, our logo will not only function as a visual mark but as a fully developed character who may look like some of you and share the same hopes and dreams as you.

Booting up…“Hello, World! The name’s 'Bot!”

Captain ‘Bot is a cute (yet badass) cyborg space explorer that rescued us from our destroyed safe haven. As our new captain, 'Bot offered to guide us in discovering new frontiers where team and fans can reestablish our beloved anime community.

 
 
 
I wanted ‘Bot to be a Black girl since you never get to see Black girls as the face of any brand, let alone an anime brand.

We lost our safe haven (“The B.O.T.”) and are in search of a new home. We’re on a space journey filled with dystopian, cyberpunk adventures lead by our cyborg Captain ‘Bot. The hosts and production team are in this universe, serving on the spaceship “Beyond The ‘Bot”.

Artists posted their renditions of Captain ‘Bot organically manifesting a multiverse to align with future plans to create a comic with various collaborators and art styles. Each chapter would essentially be a one-off adventure created by a different artist.
